Wentzville is a large city in far-eastern Missouri. It is a suburb of St. Louis and is located about 40 miles west of the Mississippi River that separates Missouri and Illinois. It is positioned in St. Charles County and had a population of approximately 37,395 people in 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau.

Wentzville was laid out in the mid-1850s. It is named in honor of Erasmus Livingston Wentz, the chief engineer of the Missouri Railroad. A post office was opened in 1859 and has been in operating since.
