In eastern Missouri near the Mississippi River is a large city known as Maryland Heights. The city is positioned in St. Louis County and is located about 20 miles west of downtown Saint Louis. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were approximately 27,137 people living in Maryland Heights in 2016.

Maryland Heights is a newer city compared to its neighboring cities. In 1985, it became an incorporated municipality. Maryland Heights is named for its original settlers who traveled from Maryland. The name became formalized in 1914. Its earliest inhabitants were Native American Indians. Europeans began settling in the area in the 1700s and from there, the city began to form with other neighboring communities and settlements.

Modern-day Maryland Heights is a unique and charming city. According to the city website, “The city is fast becoming a premier hospitality destination, welcoming over 9 million visitors a year to our 22 hotels, 50 restaurants, and exciting entertainment venues.” In Maryland Heights are a large county park and lake, outdoor amphitheater, casino complex, and more. The city is also home to a multi-purpose athletic facility, aquatic center, and aircraft museum. In the City of Maryland Heights, there is something for everyone.

Maryland Heights is located in a region of the United States that requires residents to have easy access to cooling and heating systems.
